Can I make a referral on behalf of someone else?

Absolutely, just fill out the contact form found here, and one of our team will be in touch. A short referral form will be provided for you to fill out on behalf of the participant. You can refer a member of your family, a friend or patient as long as you have their permission.

Do you carry out an assessment before joining?

Yes, once we have received the referral form, a physiotherapist will be in touch to arrange an assessment, which we conduct online over Zoom. During the assessment we will advise you on which class (or classes) would be suitable for you and we can discuss your individualised goals.

How much are online classes in comparison to face to face classes?

It’s the same price whether it is online or face to face.

For 1 month, 1 class a week = £20

For 1 month, 2 classes a week = £40

For 1 month, 3 classes a week = £60

That works out at roughly £5 per class. We are very proud of the fact that we can offer our services at this heavily subsidised amount. The cost to run the class is approximately £35 per person but thanks to our generous funders, we can provide them for £5.

What is your cancellation policy for classes?

Just let us know as soon as possible by phone or email, ideally the morning of the session, just so we know that you are okay.

Will I be reimbursed if I miss a class?

Unfortunately we can’t reimburse you for classes you miss. We do not work on a pay-as-you-go basis. It works a little bit like a gym membership - you pay for a whole month in advance but there is no contract and it spreads the costs out across the year.

We do make exceptions for long term injury or illness and you are also able to freeze your membership (see below).

What is included in the LEGS membership?

  • Your weekly exercises classes

  • Access to the Neuro Cafe (our online weekly discussion session on Wednesdays at 6pm)

  • An induction and assessment with a physiotherapist

  • Regular physiotherapist assessments and one to one check ups

  • Inclusion in our WhatsApp groups with reminders and physio support

  • Invitations to social events and activities

  • Access to the Members’ Area on the LEGS website which includes a library of shared resources for home exercise, tips on how to manage your condition and advice from our physiotherapists.

How do I pay?

You can either set up a monthly standing order for the first of each month, or pay by bank transfer or cheque. We prefer standing order payment as it is more efficient for our administration. We will invoice you for the month ahead and you can pay by bank transfer or set up a standing order.

How long can I be a member of LEGS?

We actively encourage participants to join us for at least 12 weeks. We believe in long term, affordable, accessible, rehabilitation. Many of our participants have been with us for several years, progressing from our lower intensity groups to our higher ones. We also try and help participants improve their confidence, wherever possible, to exercise independently or access services in their communities.

What technology do I need for online sessions and assessments?

We conduct all our online classes and assessments using Zoom. It’s OK if you haven’t used this before. We can help you set this up on your computer, tablet or phone. If you don’t have a tablet or smartphone, we have tablets we can lend you.

Can you provide support to participants that have not used Zoom before?

Yes, we provide assistance to people to help them access our classes, especially when Zoom is not something they are familiar with. We will do whatever we can do to make accessing our classes easy for you.

I live on my own, can I still attend online exercise classes?

Yes, as part of our assessment, we discuss how the classes run and what safety considerations need to be taken into consideration when exercising from home.

Do I have to provide my own exercise equipment when participating in online classes?

All you need is a sturdy chair! We encourage people to use everyday objects that can be found around the home as these can be effective as specialist exercise equipment. We will advise you if we think you would benefit from purchasing a particular hand weight or exercise band. We can also help with the funding of this.

I’m concerned that the exercise class will not match my ability.

Following your initial assessment, the physiotherapist will advise the appropriate class which is suitable for your level. Within the classes, adaptations are made to exercises to ensure that you are exercising safely and most effectively for your ability. We have a huge range of abilities amongst our participants and we are specialists in neurological physiotherapy so we individually tailor our support to you.

Can I freeze or cancel my membership?

Yes, we understand that during your rehabilitation you may have treatments or interventions that make it difficult and not suitable to continue with class commitments for a month or more at at time. Just contact a member of the team who will happily discuss this with you.

What happens in a class?

We start with a general chat, check in to see how everybody is doing and then get going with a warm up to get us ready to exercise. The physio leads the session and gives instructions verbally whilst demonstrating the exercises. During the class, the physio will let you know how you are doing, suggest any necessary modifications and explain what we are doing. If you need to take breaks during the class, that’s absolutely fine and we will make sure you are exercising safely. At the end of the exercises we have a gentle warm down.

Are there good public transport links to the studio?

Our current studio is based in Notting Hill; 12 Chepstow Road, London, W2 5BD. There is a bus stop right outside the studio and lots of good transport links

Who teaches the classes?

All classes are taught by a qualified and highly experienced physiotherapist. See our Meet The Team page to read more about our fantastic team!
